Cocktails for Frocktails?
/It wouldn’t be a Frocktails event without a drink or two! We’re working with the Cedar Room on which cocktails will be on offer at the party, but in the meantime we thought we’d share a few of our favorites.
Lilly: For years, I was a whiskey drinker, so I loved a good Manhattan. These days I am on a gin kick and am one of those people who actually likes Campari (and liquors in that family like Cappelletti), so lately I have been loving a good gin Negroni.
Gin Negroni
1 part gin
1 part Campari
1 part sweet Vermouth
Add ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir till chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over ice and add a twist of orange peel for a garnish.
Meagan: I love bourbon and was recently introduced to a Kentucky Mule – basically a Moscow Mule, but with bourbon instead of vodka.
Kentucky Mule
2 oz bourbon
½ oz lime juice
Ginger beer
Add the bourbon and lime to a highball glass. Fill with ice and top with ginger beer to taste. Add a sprig of mint for a garnish.
Claire: The Moscow Mule is a Christmas tradition in our house, but I’m also a fan of a Hot Toddy made with Grand Marnier instead of whisky (I know, as a Scotswoman, I should ashamed!). It’s perfect for warming you up on a cold day (and for helping to ease a cold! - Jo).
Hot Toddy
1oz Grand Marnier (Scotch is traditional)
1 tsp honey
Squeeze of lemon juice
Boiling water
Mix Grand Marnier, honey and lemon juice in your favorite mug, and top with boiling water.
Jo: I don’t get to have them much, but Caipirinhas are my favorites. I love rum and I love citrus flavors even more, so this is right up my street. I went to Brazil on vacation a few years ago, and this takes me right back to cocktails on the Copacabana. Bliss!
Caipirinha
Juice of 1 lime
2 tsp sugar
2 oz Cachaça
Mix the sugar and lime in a rocks glass. Add ice and Cachaça and stir. Garnish with a slice of lime.
