There aren’t many Seattle area sewists who don’t know of, and haven’t shopped at, Pacific Fabrics. With roots that date back to 1917, Pacific Fabrics is a locally owned family of four stores, located in Bellevue, Northgate, SODO and Beaverton.

Pacific Fabrics evolved out of the original company’s processing of scrap rags. Old discarded fabric items, surplus fabrics and trimmings from area manufacturers were sold at the company’s warehouse on 4th Avenue South in downtown Seattle to thrifty women who used them to make quilts, blankets, home furnishings and garments for their families.

In the post-WWII years, the company began to purchase fabrics in bulk from mills, factories and suppliers - and then expanded their retail outlets to Seattle neighborhoods and suburbs opening the doors with the same no-frills concept: fabric remnants displayed on long tables that customers eagerly sorted through for their own special purpose (as they still can today!). They offer remnant wools, rayons, cottons and more from leading mills and design houses on the flat fold tables at all their stores and know that savvy shoppers know that Pacific Fabrics is the place to find value as well as quality.

Nowadays, they pride themselves in carrying fabrics for everyone’s passions: quilting, garment making, home décor, crafts, utility, as well as stocking a wide selection of yarns, notions, tools, foams, and patterns.
